Cups N Canvas

It's finally the day of the week where we get to meet again!

We were wandering around aimlessly until dinner time and suddenly, I got feel to eat Cheese Fries.

The fries made us too full for dinner though, so we wandered around even longer and snapped some pictures.

The agenda of the day was to visit this cafe. Cups N Canvas. The outlook of this cafe is an old school, cosy style and they have something like an art studio beside where people do their paintings. Ivan found this cafe online and decided to come here. It's located at somewhere at or near Sophia street, within walkable distance from Dhoby Ghaut Station.

As we were still feeling full, we ordered a pasta to share.

Pesto-based Pasta. This was my first time trying Pesto pasta. Pesto is not to my liking as I never like veggie. You can smell the strong veggie (pesto) smell as soon as the food item arrives, so if you are a pesto lover, you may like this pasta.

We shared a mocha latte and sweet potato latte. The sweet potato latte is the specialty of this cafe. These 2 drinks complement each other since the mocha was slightly bitter and the sweet potato latte has a tinge of sweetness, but even on it's own, the sweet potato latte is quite a nice drink. I couldn't bear to destroy the bear on the drink, so I let Ivan do it.

We had Earl Grey Cheesecake for dessert. This was the first Earl Grey Cheesecake I have tried so I couldn't tell if it's a nice Earl Grey cake. But if you are asking for the first-timer opinion, I would say that it's delicious.

In total, we spent about $27 for all the food items mentioned here.

After dinner, we went to catch a last minute movie, Before Midnight. We were checking out the recent movies in Rotten Tomato and the ratings for this movie is as high as 98%. Since the rating is good, we went for it straight without finding out what the movie was about.

When you rush into things, it usually don't turn out well...

The starting part of the movie was pretty boring to me. The actors just kept talking and talking and I wondered how did they even manage to memorise all those lines. Soon, I drifted away as they continued talking. First time experience of sleeping thru a movie. I only woke up when the movie was about to end and the same actors were still talking non-stop. However, Ivan thought that it was a nice movie as the topics they discussed are real and relevant.

We grabbed a small bite at the basement of Somerset 313 and took a seat behind Dong Dae Mun to chit chat abit before heading home. Halfway through the chat, I spotted a ran climbing up the glass panels of Dong Dae Mun cooking area and disappeared into the ceiling. I didn't feel safe enough to continue sitting there just in case the rat decides to lose grip and drop down. And now, I don't think I will want to try the food from that stall either.

We headed home next and this was how another day of mine ended.

Genting Highlands Day 4

That marked the end of our last day in Genting Highlands. Checking out, ate brunch, and it was almost time for us to take the coach bus back to Singapore. The 4-day trip was indeed enjoyable. Not in the sense that we did a lot of things and had a fun-filled trip, but the accompaniment of each other without disturbance. We got to be with each other day and night and not having to worry about getting home too late, replying whatsapp, checking social media or what's not.

I hope that we can go back there soon... Probably next year, for the casino, since the outdoor theme park will be closed down for 2 or 3 years to build the 20th Century Fox theme park featuring films such as Alien, Predator, Life of Pi, Rio, Ice Age, and Night at the Museum. Looking at this list of films, I'm only interested in the Night at the Museum.

Genting Highlands 26-29 May 2013 (Day 3)

As I didn't have the chance to eat the cupcake, it became my breakfast the next day. Despite placing it in the fridge overnight, it still tasted very nice and chocolatey. He also made me a cup of hot tea to go with the cupcake.

Next, we went to Old Town for his breakfast
Sipped on my favourite Si Mun (丝袜)Milk Tea while watching him eat. After breakfast, we sat there chatting for awhile and went to the Outdoor Theme Park which is just opposite.

Took our first ride: Merry-Go-Round

It's funny how I rode on a huge lion and he had to ride on a small pony. A big guy riding on a small pony.

We took the Jumbo ride and the super slow train after that. Wanted to come back in the evening time again to take more rides cos of the long queues everywhere in the afternoon. However, it was raining and our plan to go back again had to be abolished.

We also went to play bowling

We went back to hotel to rest and had my "lunch".

I like this mee goreng. It's very nice. Should stock up more of it at home. After awhile, he fell asleep and that was when my fun time came. He mumbled in his sleep that day. I was trying very hard to listen to what he was saying and I caught a sentence,"my dear wants to eat cake, I want to go and buy cake." I couldn't stop smiling to myself after I heard it. It's too funny, and cute at the same time. That was also the time when I realised that he can talk and communicate with me when he's half asleep but doesn't rmb after that, just like a drunken.

Dinner for that day was pizza hut and we walked around the place again, exploring the outdoor area cos it was the cold that night.

I took his jacket while he wore my cardigan.
Misty background.

Sitting at the outdoor of Starbucks to enjoy a cup of hot coffee in the cold weather.
End of Day 3...

Genting Highlands 26-29 May 2013 (Day 2)

Day 2 at Genting Highlands:

After waking up and getting dressed up, we decided that the plan for the day was to explore Genting Highlands and go for some shopping. As we walked out of the room and when the door shut behind us, I realised that neither of us brought the door key. By then, the door was already locked. Luckily there was some room service personnel around and we borrowed her master door key to open the door to retrieve our keys before heading off again.

Took this photo to remind ourselves to always bring the card out.

We went out in search for a place to have our breakfast. We both agreed that we should settle for cheaper alternative for breakfast and go to a restaurant for dinner, hence we chose to eat in First World foodcourt.

I wanted to eat the bak kut teh as I tried it the previous time I went there and it tasted quite good. However, I only know that it cost about 20+RM on the last day of our trip. The plan to eat something cheap failed totally -.-

After breakfast, we walked around to explore the entire place. We walked through the entire First World Plaza, the arcade area and skyway area. We played the pacman air hockey in the arcade and it was quite fun. I lost to him by a slight bit even though I was leading at first.

Initially, we wanted to make a trip down to the strawberry farm. We stopped by a Starbucks cafe to use their wifi to check the directions to the Strawberry farm. However, I saw some reviews saying that if you have went to Cameron Highlands before, there is nothing much in Genting Strawberry Farm as compared. Sooooooooo, we made our way back to the hotel as I was feeling so tired that I slipped into a "Stoning Mode" every now and then.

On our way back to the hotel, we passed by Baskin Robbins and he bought me this:

Chocolate and Strawberry Yoghurt Ice Cream!! The ice cream really made me more awake. I LOVE ICE CREAM!

I napped for super long in the hotel (About 2 to 3 hours?). By the time I woke up, it was already evening time. He gave me a small surprise the moment I woke up. He went out alone to buy me a nice cupcake when I was sleeping. When we were exploring the place, we walked by a bakery shop with delicious looking cupcake. I just made a mere comment saying that the cupcakes looked nice and he immediately said he wanted to buy for me. I didn't let him do it and pulled him away. Although I like sweet stuff like cupcakes, I still think that they are expensive and fattening, so might as well save the $ and not gain the calories. Little did I know that he would really buy it for me. A small part of me was feeling pissed cos I had already told him not to buy but a big part of me was still touched by his action.

As it was already dinner time, we stored up the cupcake in the fridge first and went to Kenny Rogers for dinner.

After dinner, we continued to walk awhile and it was time to enter the theatre to catch Fast and Furious 6. Even though I didn't watch the previous sequels, I still think that Fast 6 is awesome! However, he fell asleep some time through the movie cos he was tired and he didn't sleep when I was asleep. After the movie ended, we went back to the hotel, watched some movie on my phone and sleep. That marks the end of our Day 2 in Genting Highlands.

Genting Highlands 26-29 May 2013 (Day 1)

The day I had very much looked forward to finally arrived! Ever since the plan for the Genting Highlands trip had been nailed down, we had been talking a lot about it and looking forward to it.

On the first day of our trip, we met up to have Mcdonald's breakfast at Toa Payoh before heading off to Golden Mile to take our coach bus scheduled to leave by 7.30am.

As Ivan enjoys taking photos, we had been taking photos THROUGHOUT (literally) our trip from the start to the end.
These photos were taken in a cab, halfway through the journey when the bus stopped for a 20mins rest and while waiting at the lobby to check in to the hotel.

We took five-star tour bus up to Genting Highlands and the ride was horrendous. The bus was very bumpy and it made me felt uncomfortable. I don't recall that I had taken any bus rides bumpier than that to Genting Highlands before.

When we reached Genting Highlands, the temperature over there was just cool. We headed towards First World hotel to do our check-in. Although I had been to Genting Highlands for many times, that was the first time I'm doing check-in personally and we were feeling abit lost as the instructions weren't clear as to where to get the queue number for check-in. Finally, we figured out and got our queue numbers, but to realise that there was 50 queue numbers ahead till our turn. To make the wait less mundane, I went to buy starbucks and Ivan decorated those photos using my phone.

After the check-in was done, it was about 3 plus 4pm. We didn't do much for the day as we were both tired from waking up too early. As such, we also retired early for the first day.
