Three Wombats Cafe

We went to explore this cafe last Sunday as I bought the deals online and it was expiring soon. Got no choice but to utilise it ASAP. The layout looks exactly like the picture.

Cream of Broccoli. Tasted okay but the soup was too watery.
I ordered Chicken Chop with some red wine sauce. I could smell the red wine when the dish was served, but I couldn't taste it. The chicken itself is delicious, coupled with ordinary sauce and bad side dishes. So overall, I would rate this dish as so-so only.

Ivan ordered the baked fish pasta. Similarly, the fish was nice but the pasta was over-cooked.

Lastly, a pathetically small cake. We ordered a cheese cake and a brownie but it was so small that I didn't even want to take photos of it. Ivan was the one who took picture of the cheesecake. You can literally finished the whole cake in one full bite. I know we bought the deals at a discounted price and should be contented with that. But it's definitely a wrong move for the cafe to do that as customers will feel cheated and it doesn't reflect well of the cafe. I think it would be so much better if they didn't include it in the deal description if they are going to be so stingy about it. So now, I would associate the cafe with the pathetically small cake they served and doubt I would want to go back again.

On a side note, here's a picture of my handsome bf taken in the cafe... but don't be fooled by this, scroll down further...

How we spent our Hari Raya

We ran out of places to go, so the agenda of the day was to stay at my home and watch movie online. The movie I streamed was The Croods. It seemed like I was the only one watching though. I didn't know that Mr Ivan watched it before but he insisted he would watch it with me again, so fine then... we watched it...but he just dozed off halfway through the movie.

Firstly, he was lying on my shoulder, then I shifted him to lie down on my leg. I totally regretted making the shift cos my leg went numb within minutes after that. Luckily my sis was around to throw me a pillow so that I could shift him from my leg to the pillow. As soon as the movie ended, I became bored again.. and so, he became the toy. I was disturbing him, snapping pictures and treating his stomach like a pillow. Even so, he wasn't awaken by me.. What a pig..

Our day ended with a nice meal at Upper Thomson Road and chilling around till it was time for him to go home.

Ps.: We were meeting the very next day again! =D

Sea Aquarium

Specially took a day off from work on 7th August (Wed) to go Sea Aquarium with my boyfriend. He came in the morning to make breakfast for me.

Pancakes with eggs! The pancakes seemed a bit dark cos I spread blueberry jam on it.

When he was making it, I saw some pancakes in ugly shape. But when I came out from a shower, that was being served to me instead. All my pancakes were nicely-cooked in a circular shape, while his were all the spoilt ones.

Review: I still prefer the first breakfast he made for me. The eggs were too salty this time.

After breakfast, we made the purchase of tickets online ($28) and headed off to Sentosa.

It was a right choice to make the purchase online. We managed to skip the long queue at the ticketing counters and went straight into the attraction. The Sea Aquarium was too crowded that you would doubt it's a weekday.

We took lots of pictures of the fishes.

I'm only posting some of the many photos taken. My personal favourite is the starfish photo. It was stuck right onto the glass wall so it's easy to take a close-up of it.

We finished walking through the entire Aquarium in 2+ hours and headed back to Vivocity to catch a last minute movie: Turbo. I think that the movie was not bad. The storyline was more interesting than Despicable Me 2 although it wasn't as cute.

It was already dinner time when the movie ended and this was what we had for dinner.

We bought some food from Cold Storage and had our dinner at the open-air area of Vivocity, dining under the stars. I love this kind of dinner though. Sitting around casually, chatting and enjoying the breeze. Will definitely do that again some days.

The only thing that makes me feel good about ending the day is knowing that I will meet him again the very next day...

Cups N Canvas

It's finally the day of the week where we get to meet again!

We were wandering around aimlessly until dinner time and suddenly, I got feel to eat Cheese Fries.

The fries made us too full for dinner though, so we wandered around even longer and snapped some pictures.

The agenda of the day was to visit this cafe. Cups N Canvas. The outlook of this cafe is an old school, cosy style and they have something like an art studio beside where people do their paintings. Ivan found this cafe online and decided to come here. It's located at somewhere at or near Sophia street, within walkable distance from Dhoby Ghaut Station.

As we were still feeling full, we ordered a pasta to share.

Pesto-based Pasta. This was my first time trying Pesto pasta. Pesto is not to my liking as I never like veggie. You can smell the strong veggie (pesto) smell as soon as the food item arrives, so if you are a pesto lover, you may like this pasta.

We shared a mocha latte and sweet potato latte. The sweet potato latte is the specialty of this cafe. These 2 drinks complement each other since the mocha was slightly bitter and the sweet potato latte has a tinge of sweetness, but even on it's own, the sweet potato latte is quite a nice drink. I couldn't bear to destroy the bear on the drink, so I let Ivan do it.

We had Earl Grey Cheesecake for dessert. This was the first Earl Grey Cheesecake I have tried so I couldn't tell if it's a nice Earl Grey cake. But if you are asking for the first-timer opinion, I would say that it's delicious.

In total, we spent about $27 for all the food items mentioned here.

After dinner, we went to catch a last minute movie, Before Midnight. We were checking out the recent movies in Rotten Tomato and the ratings for this movie is as high as 98%. Since the rating is good, we went for it straight without finding out what the movie was about.

When you rush into things, it usually don't turn out well...

The starting part of the movie was pretty boring to me. The actors just kept talking and talking and I wondered how did they even manage to memorise all those lines. Soon, I drifted away as they continued talking. First time experience of sleeping thru a movie. I only woke up when the movie was about to end and the same actors were still talking non-stop. However, Ivan thought that it was a nice movie as the topics they discussed are real and relevant.

We grabbed a small bite at the basement of Somerset 313 and took a seat behind Dong Dae Mun to chit chat abit before heading home. Halfway through the chat, I spotted a ran climbing up the glass panels of Dong Dae Mun cooking area and disappeared into the ceiling. I didn't feel safe enough to continue sitting there just in case the rat decides to lose grip and drop down. And now, I don't think I will want to try the food from that stall either.

We headed home next and this was how another day of mine ended.

Genting Highlands Day 4

That marked the end of our last day in Genting Highlands. Checking out, ate brunch, and it was almost time for us to take the coach bus back to Singapore. The 4-day trip was indeed enjoyable. Not in the sense that we did a lot of things and had a fun-filled trip, but the accompaniment of each other without disturbance. We got to be with each other day and night and not having to worry about getting home too late, replying whatsapp, checking social media or what's not.

I hope that we can go back there soon... Probably next year, for the casino, since the outdoor theme park will be closed down for 2 or 3 years to build the 20th Century Fox theme park featuring films such as Alien, Predator, Life of Pi, Rio, Ice Age, and Night at the Museum. Looking at this list of films, I'm only interested in the Night at the Museum.
