Festive Period

During the last weekend, I spent my time at home doing my report and I managed to finish about 80-90% of it. It meant that there would be a lot of time for me to enjoy during the weekdays.

Monday was Christmas Eve.

Those were the 3 presents I had received from my colleagues. I didn't prepare anything though as my colleague told me that the company doesn't have the culture of giving Xmas gifts. As it was a half day work day on Christmas Eve, I asked Wendy Chin out and we went to catch a movie: CZ 12

This is indeed a must-watch movie. Although it's expected that there will be a lot of fighting scenes, this movie has also incorporated loads of funny elements. Overall, this is a movie that will make you laugh and help you lighten your mood.

To avoid the crowd, Wendy and I decided to leave for home at abt 5 plus. That summed up my Xmas Eve.

_________________________________________________________

Early in the morning of Christmas Day, I was waken up by my alarm at 6.50AM... to go jogging from Hougang to Toa Payoh. I would consider this as a suicide attempt. For someone like me, who hadn't been running for a few months, to jog for 7km was really suicidal. But of cos, I didn't jog throughout. I couldn't do it. I think the actual distance I had jogged was only about 2km maybe? The rest of the distance was by walking.

I got very bad muscle aches for the next 2 days. It was kinda difficult for me to walk during those 2 days, but luckily the ache had already subsided now.

Prawning/ Night Cycling

Internship makes me feel that my life is filled with more activities and events. This is because internship makes life become dull hence, I have become more appreciative and spontaneous towards after-work activities.

I took a half day leave on Thursday for medical appointment. After that, I met Elaine at Dhoby Ghaut and we went to have our dinner at Strictly Pancakes. I've heard about the shop since long time ago but I didn't get to try it until that day. I ordered a Tiramisu pancakes and the look and taste of the pancake was AWESOME! It is also extremely filling. I tried very hard to squeeze down 2 pancakes into my stomach and that was my limit. I had to leave the last one out.

After dinner, Elaine and I went to shop around the new extension of Sing Plaza. I tried to shop around for Christmas gift for my company gift exchange event too, but I really had no idea of what to buy. Until now, I still havent got it yet and the possibility of me getting chocolates as gifts are higher as the deadline for submission of the gift gets closer.

I was "forced" to go prawning with my siblings and cousins again that night after meeting Elaine. I didn't want to go because the previous time I went, which was about last week only, the catch wasn't good and it made me felt real bored and sleepy towards the end of the prawning session. However, this time was different. The catch was real good. We took 3 rods and during the last hour of the prawning session, a prawn would bite on the bait every few mins for each rod.

This is our catch. The prawn sizes are bigger as compared to those we had caught last week. I think there should be about 40-50 prawns inside. Slept at about 3.30am that night and the next day, my mind was floating in the office, like a ghost.

On friday, as those in my department were not around, I went to have lunch @ Safra with other colleagues belonging to other department. That was my first time going for lunch with them and I was kinda afraid I would feel out of place. But luckily it went fine and the Korean restaurant we had our lunch at was nice.

Saturday:
I went Pasir Ris with my sis and her bf's to celebrate Vincent's 21st birthday @ Livia Condo. (And now I know where Wendy Koh lives.) The best/worst part of it was Night Cycling. There's a total of 9 of us. Our plan was to cycle from Pasir Ris to Lau Pa Sat to eat supper, but we didn't make it there as it was raining and we'd decided not to proceed. At that time, we were already at East Coast Park. We took a different route back from East Coast Park to Pasir Ris. We passed by Simei, Bedok, Tampines and then to Pasir Ris. We started out journey at about 10pm+ and ended at about 4am+. The experience was fun but torturous. We were cycling in the rain and there were puddles of rainwater around. When we cycled passed it, all the water splashed up and we became totally wet and dirty. After we went back to the Condo, we had a quick shower, ate some food, waited for awhile and Vincent's uncle drove us home.

3 consecutive days in Orchard

I have been busy going out this weekend. I received a msg on Friday during work from Sharmaine, asking me to go out with her. We went Far East and I bought a new heels :) We talked about our work and also this time she told me more about how she and her boyfriend started out. And now, this question pops up in my mind:

我的男朋友,你在哪里?

On Saturday, I met Wendy Joshua and Ryan. I met Wendy at an earlier time to go shopping and I bought a black cardigan from Pull & Bear. I seriously very broke now. Must stop shopping alr if I'm gonna save for my grad trip.

We wanted to watch Pitch Perfect at first, but almost all the seats were already taken up. So we had got to choose between Rise of the Guardians or Hotel Transylvania because the rest of the movies look boring. Joshua suggested to ask for the counter personnel's suggestion and she recommended Rise of the Guardians. However, only the first row seats were left and we ended up watching Hotel Transylvania. It's quite a funny cartoon show about a boy trespassing into this hotel built for the monsters and he zinged with a bat/vampire girl. We totally did not regret watching this.

On Sunday, which is today, I met up with my long-time-no-see friend, Ms Tan Kai Xin. The last time we met was in March and we dragged for so long before we met again. This was how I forced her to make time for me: I sent her a birthday message on her birthday and said that I'm going to 绝交 with her if she doesn't meet me soon.

Well, the 绝交 part was just kidding though, it was just nice that she ended her finals so she was free to meet me. We catch up a bit over a cup of coffee and watched Pitch Perfect this time. Pitch Perfect is also a nice show to watch. It's going to stop showing soon since it has been up for quite some time. If you haven't watch you should really go and watch.

We had our dinner at Flam's and dessert at Honeymoon Dessert @ 313 Somerset. We really have a lot to talk and share. She's going to go Australia in 3rd Feb to pursue her studies in Veterinary Science for 6 years. That's freaking long. I told her that I will visit her in Australia one day when I save up enough money. She agreed to be the host when I go over. We must really meet up more often before she goes overseas, if not I will only get to see her once a year when she comes back during her holidays :(

And now, Sunday night blue is kicking in....

Busy week

This week is considered as one of the busiest week ever since internship started. Mainly is because of the interim report. This is the first time I'm writing a 5k words report all by myself. I miss my teammates, I miss doing group projects. Honestly speaking, doing group project is a lot more tiring than doing individual work, especially for the integrated project we had last sem, but there's a sense of satisfaction after completing it together as a team.

And yes, I'm sick of working alr. Every day I have to wake up at 7am to prepare for work, do mundane work, go home and sleep. Next day, the whole routine happens again. In school, if I woke up late, I just skip lectures.. No big deal. During the last sem in school, I was thinking that sch became very boring, but working is worst. At least in school, I still have friends to talk to, got Wendy Chin to disturb every time during IR lectures, sticking crayon shin stickers on my lecture notes to "beautify" it. I'm not saying that my colleagues are not nice to talk to, it's just that we are on different channels or frequencies.

2 more months to go... ...

Okay, back to topic. I went to watch Breaking Dawn on Tuesday night. I actually made an online booking on Saturday. All the while, I had been thinking that I booked the tix at AMK Cathay, but when I wanted to retrieve my tix, I realised that I had made booking at Cineleisure instead. Stupid me. But luckily they allowed me to make changes. However I ended up paying more because the tix at Cineleisure are more expensive than AMK. They allow you to make changes, but won't refund you the extra.

I feel that the movie is just so-so. It's no very awesome as compared to Breaking Dawn Part 1. But if you haven't watch, you can go and watch. I wont discourage ppl to go and watch it, because after all it isn't that lousy.

I spent tues night watching movie, Wed night on jap class, I had only left with Thursday to complete my report. I did my report until about 2.30am before I went to sleep. On fri morning, my sup gave me feedback on my report and I just spent my whole day at work multi-tasking. When I had ad-hoc duties given by my sup and colleague, I would complete it, and then go back to work on my report again. That carried on until I submitted by report at about 4 plus pm. And for my interim report, I've told my boss to go ahead to submit the one she had done previously. Yes, the one with the low score. Because came to think of it, she gave me 7 out of 10 marks, but the rest gotten about 8-9 marks out of 10. The difference between us is only about 1-3 marks. That's quite minor.

However, I had already told her that I couldn't afford for her to give me such low marks for the final report, because the weightage is 30%. She does seem to understand though, so see how it goes for the final appraisal.

Well, I'm having my Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) tmr but yet I'm writing my blog here. I've hardly studied for it.

This was the small gift given by my Jap class teacher to wish us luck for the test. She made the flowers by herself. Simple yet nice. She's such as nice and good teacher, I hope that she will be teaching me for the vacation module next year. But she's pregnant now, she may be away for confinement or maternity leave by then.

This is all I have for this post. Goodbye!

D&D

It was the company D&D yesterday. I left the office at 2.30pm to go home to prepare. I started doing my hair and make-up at about 3.30pm but I still felt that there wasn't enough time. Partly because of the fake eyelashes. I took quite a long time to put them on.

I only managed to snap a picture of myself when I came home. It was a mad rush. My colleague and I only reached MBS at abt 7+pm. We were supposed to reach at 6pm.

I didn't take any pictures with my camera. I think those pictures will be posted up in a common drive shared by the company. Will post up more pictures when I get it.

Da BOMB

Met up with Sharmaine yesterday to shop. We went to Haji Lane. I saw this pair of heels that I really like, but they don't have a new pair for it. The existing one, which was put on display, was kinda worn out. The trip to Haji Lane wasn't entirely fruitless. I managed to buy a clutches (convertible to a sling bag) at $29. The colour exactly matches my dress and it's not that formal. Can be used for other more casual occasion.

After one whole day of shopping, we settled at Cineleisure for dinner, the place where we can fill a plate of sidedishes with whatever we like.

Sharmaine and I shared a 1/2 chicken, plus a plate of side dishes
The guy queuing in front of us was super pro in stacking. The key to filling your plate is to build a stable base. Our base wasn't very stable, so we couldn't do it as good as that guy.

But this was already good enough. Elaine joined us later and shared this plate of side dishes. In the end we still couldn't manage to finish everything.

I've also gotten these make-ups. Have been watching quite a lot of make-up tutorials on youtube when I'm free. Gonna try doing some nice make-up one of these days before D&D.

Rants

I really hate bugging people, that's why I don't think I will like doing sales, but yet a part of my work now is about bugging people.

When you know that some thing is not going to be done so soon, what for you keep following up? Just to hear the person says that "Oh, it's under processing"? I think it's redundant but it seems like I'm not doing my job if I don't follow up "timely"..

I'm back

Haven't been blogging for a long time. Reasons are because I'm too lazy to think of what to blog and I have other better things to do.

I just came back from the KK hospital for my cramps problem. Even the doctor seemed puzzled with my condition. I have to go back for another scan in Jan. So costly and troublesome. But the private suite is quite awesome. It's nicely decorated with sofa seats and there's a coffee machine where you can generate free coffee. I got myself a cup of mocha.

What have I been doing for the past few days?
-Trying to book air tickets...
The air tickets promotion was ending on 31st Oct, Wed, so we dragged till then before we booked the tickets. I had to go back to school on wed for jap class, and I met Junxing after that, at abt 10+pm to discuss about the trip as well as booking the tickets. We met at Mcdonald's and I tried booking the tix using my sis's ipad. It failed, so I tried using Jx's laptop. But it failed again. As it was nearing 12am, I had to rush home to book. It was a mad rush. I was afraid that the promotion would end. I managed to submit the booking 1 more time before 12am. However, it failed again...

Apparently, the promotion was extended till 7 Nov, so I've been trying to book for the past few days and IT FINALLY GOT THROUGH YESTERDAY! SO HAPPY!! I've started to look at the hotels, and also noting down the prices, locations and links so that I can go back to it later. Looking through the hotels is very addictive. I didn't want to stop until 12+ am last night. The hotels make me wants to fly there immediately. It looks so nice! I hope we can have a great time there.

Second thought

I wanted to write on internship for this post, but I guessed it's better not to do that in case things go wrong.

Joshua drove us out for supper on Friday night. We met at Ang mo kio. Before I met them, my sis and I went to watch "The Fierce Wife" movie. I think it's nice to watch because I've watched the drama. The movie is a continuation of the drama. I like the ending too. The female lead ended up being with the guy I preferred.

I met the guys at KPool because they wanted to play pool first. I was quite frustrated at first because I wasn't being informed of that. So in the end I just had to go a long. We went Jurong West to eat supper. The don't know what power nasi lemak. Felt so sinful to eat so much late at night.

We also went to the Mcdonald's opposite Jurong Point to buy a drink and chill. Coincidentally, we saw Yujie over there too. We walked around the park and sat down to chat. We left the park at about 2am I think. I only reached home at 3am cos we kept on going the wrong way. Jx was so funny when he tried to assure Joshua on the routes we were taking. Singapore is small, but the roads are still very complicated.

Overall it's a fun night. We don't have to care about the time we have to go home cos we don't need to take public transport. It's so nice to have a car.

Full House & Internship

First week of internship was good until yesterday when some issue cropped up. Throughout this week, I have learnt a lot. Really A LOT. My colleague is not coming back to the office to work, so she has to impart almost all the things she knows to me and I will have to take over her job. She is a very nice person and good "teacher". She not only taught me how to do the things, she also shares her past experiences and the rationale of doing things that way. I enjoyed listening to her past experiences as there's a lot of things I can learn from there and also to gain a better insight of the HR field.

Because I have many things to learn everyday, it means that I have many things to do also. I have been constantly doing something since my first day of internship. I've got quite a few things on hand at one time, so I have to write it down if not I won't be able to rmb. I enjoyed working though. Time passes very fast and unknowingly during work.

By the way, I walk everyday to work and back home. It makes me feel much more healthy. It takes me abt 20+ mins to walk to work.

31 August 2012, Friday

I met up with Elaine and Sharmaine. We met at Somerset and had few hours to spare before proceeding to Full House to have our dinner.

Since Sharmaine brought her powerful camera, we went up to the sky garden @ orchard central to take pictures.

This camerawoman made us take awkward picture like this

We went shopping the Orchard Central and Cineleisure. When it's about time, we walked back Dhoby Ghaut @ Full House. Before our food came, we went around the cafe to take pictures.

Grad trip pre-prep

27th August 2012, Monday
I cleaned my room. Mass cleaning. Got quite a great sense of achievement after doing that. Those who have came to my house before would know that my bed is lifted above the floor, and there's a space underneath my bed. To keep things out of sight, I would conveniently stuff my things there and rarely touch it thereafter. Ever since I moved to my current house, I don't have any recollection of memories that I cleaned the space under my bed before.

It was quite a horrendous cleaning experience. Dust were flying everywhere and I have to use loads of strength-- to move the queen sized mattress out of its bed frame and dismantle my bed frame so that I would gain access to the floor without having to climb in.

I'm not a body builder, so I needed my mum to help me with moving the heavy mattress. Otherwise, I did the rest on my own.

My mum kept complaining that I'm doing things slowly. I'm not slow! I'm just doing things thoroughly. I took about 2 hours over to clean everything and put it back into place. When my room is free of dust, I felt that I'm the one full of dust.

29th August 2012, Wednesday
I met Jun Xing at Chinatown to look for cheap travel package to Taiwan during Feb-Mar 2013 period. However, it was a disappointing trip. They told us that the promotion prices for next year is not out yet and we probably have to wait till November to check again. We went to eat at Chinatown first before proceeding to Dhoby Ghaut to meet Alvin and Joshua. Walked around Daiso and went to Astons for dinner.

After dinner, we went to SOTA and watched a play for a few mins before coming out again to meet Ryan. We had to accompany him to eat, chitchat and walked all the way from dhoby ghaut to orchard. On the way, we stopped by Orchard Central's roof garden to chit chat for quite awhile. And because there were only a few of us, they were talking about things they wouldn't say in a big group. All I could say was that it's pretty "ENRICHING".
1 thing I've learnt from this -- GUYS CAN BE REALLY GOSSIPY TOO. IT'S NOT ONLY THE GIRLS WHO ARE DOING THIS.

I reached home at 10.30pm and 1 day of my limited holidays was spent. Only a few more days left before internship and I want more!

Sleep over

I went to Elaine's house for sleep over during the weekends. It was actually an impromptu decision for me. She sent me a very misleading message to call me to stay over at her house, whereas I thought that I was only going to her house for a day and will come back to my house at night.

But in the end, I still decided to stay over at her house, although I didn't bring ANYTHING for sleepover with me. Elaine is just so "guest-prepared". She has all the things that I need, like toothbrush, contact lens case, disposable underwear etc. We didn't do a lot of stuff. Just chit chat and nua together watching shows and reading books/magazines. I like this kind of life. It's just plain relaxing.

On Sunday morning, I went out for breakfast at Wendy's together with her family and watched Expendables 2. It's a great movie but there was this disgusting scene where a person's head was cut/slice/grind in pieces by a helicopter's rotor/propeller/whatever-it's-called.

I borrowed this book called the <<君空>> or <> from Elaine. The movie, "Sky of Love" aka "恋空"/ "Koizora", which was quite popular few years back. This is actually the book version of that movie, but from the guy's point of view. I've watched the movie version and drama version of it, but this is the first time I'm reading the book. Since the drama and movie were filmed from the girl's point of view, I've decided to start reading the book with the guy's point of view first. I spent less than 2 days to finish the entire book.

I know the story beforehand, so I find that some parts of the book were quite draggy. Moreover, it's a translated version from Japanese to Mandarin, so some of the sentence structures are weird. It's not wrong, but people don't use it often. For example, "手中拿着热腾腾的汤的美嘉" This kind of sentences appeared many times in the book, but I think that it's because of the japanese sentence structures, that's why the translator could only translate it in this way.

Nevertheless, I still find it touching although this is the 3rd time I'm coming across the same storyline. And this time, I still feel that it's incredibly stupid for the guy to leave the girl because he had illness--throat cancer.

Fika Sweden Cafe

I know this post is kinda lag, but I wanted to wait for Elaine to upload the pictures first and post it all together here.

So I met up with Elaine last Sunday after tuition in the morning. What we had in mind were to watch movie and go for cafe hunting in Bugis. But after looking at the movies available to watch, we decided to go for shopping instead.

Elaine initiated to walk around arab street to hunt for cafe, but before that, we bought Hokkaido ice cream to help us deal with the heat when walking to Arab Street.

After walking for some time, about half an hour or so, we settled in this cafe.
Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro

The interior is simple and comfortable. It's painted white, so it makes the place looks clean and neat.

I ordered this soft drink in the menu called "Trocadero". It was written in the menu that it's a popular soft drink in Sweden. It's a fusion of apple and orange soda and it's quite nice, but expensive cos it's imported.
 Iced latte ordered by Elaine.

 Sipping my drink away

TAADAA our main courses
 Elaine's Crayfish Spaghetti
My Grill Chicken

They made great sauces and it makes the food tastes great too. But it's not cheap. The bill amounted to $60 over.

After the meal, we went shopping at Haji Lane, which is just 1 street away.

Picture taking time before we started on a shopping spree.

I bought a top and a bag from one of the shops and spent about $60+. Elaine also spent as much as me on 2 tops. After spending close to $100 on food and shopping, we decided not to walk into shops anymore to stop ourselves from spending again.

As the weather was still very hot, we walked to Bugis+ and chill at Berry Lite to enjoy a cup of yoghurt.

We went to the rooftop after that for another photo taking session

And that marked the end of our cafe hunting trip.

This was the first time I went for cafe hunting with Elaine. It's fun because you don't know what to expect and our luck were quite good because we managed to chance upon a Swedish cafe, which is considered rare in Singapore. You don't see a Swedish cafe just anywhere round the corner. I believe there will be more of such trip coming up :)

ttsh

I went TTSH with my mum today for check up. Actually there was nothing much, just non stop waiting. My mum went for consultation with a doctor and the doctor told her to go for physiotherapy to treat her stiff shoulder. We waited for 2 hours for the physiotherapy, so my mum and I went to walk around at the various shopping malls in Novena.

When we were walking around, my internship company called me asking me if I want attend their D&D which is in November cos they have to consolidate the number of people attending. I can't possibly say no because she said that those who are attending the D&D will be given early dismissal on that day to prepare. So if I don't go, I would probably be the only one in the office staring into blank space. By the way, their D&D is held at MBS. So high class. That means must prepare nice dress to attend the function..

The physiotherapist attending to my mum is a real cute, good looking Caucasian guy. My mum doesn't understand English so I have to be the translator. So HE HAS TO TALK TO ME wahahaha. Can look at him without feeling weird cos have to maintain eye contact. Hahaha! I feel like a fan girl now, but he's really nice looking though. Great eye candy. So that's the highlight of the day.

Bad dream

I had a bad dream before I woke up at 6.30am today. Well.. I couldn't really differentiate whether it's a dream or was it that I made it up as I was half awake. When my alarm rang at 6.30am, it gave me a shock and I woke up with my heart pumping fast. But I'm glad that the alarm woke me up. I rather stay awake than to be trapped in sadness.

And yes, it was the gush of sadness which makes me think that it was a dream. If I made it up, I would be sad thinking about it, but not so intense.

So what was my dream?

I'm not going to disclose.

The dream was very real and realistic. I think it's going to happen anyway... but there's no way I can stop it from happening...

Quick update

I'm doing a quick update about my life now before my laptop battery runs out. 14% left now.

So last week was the start of study break. Study break is for us to study but I ended up slacking it away. I started to study IR only on Friday and I only finished one chapter. Similarly for Saturday and Sunday. Can't blame me though. Olympics was too interesting and I didn't have time to study on Sunday due to tuition and out with Elaine after that. Will update on the trip once photos are up.

Okay, at least I was slightly productive today. But I didn't memorise all cos I think it's not necessary to memorise. I'm depending on luck that I will remember that point when I'm taking my exam on Thursday.

That's all for today and I'll have to resume studying tmr. Misery for this and next week :(

Wendy Chin's 19th Birthday Celebration

WendyK, Junxing, Ryan, Joshua and I went out to celebrate WendyC's birthday today. And 1 day before her birthday, I made her a card.

This was the card that I've made for her. I spent super long just to paste the beads onto the card one by one to form the words "Happy 19th Birthday". I think I spent about 2 or more hours doing it.

We went Flam's pizza @ Orchard Central for lunch. The pizzas there are not bad. Nicer than skinny pizza. We ordered 2 pizzas to share among 3 of us.

It was KBox after that. We got Joshua to bought this small cake for Wendy Chin since he was coming late.

Make a wish~ make a wish~
He was singing this song with lyrics about lighters in the air/sky, so he took out his lighter and waved it in the air.
Camwhore with WendyK
A picture together. Pardon the messy table

Took a polaroid together and stuck it on the birthday card.
Interior of the birthday card.

A fun day out together with these poly friends. I think the next time we meet up again will be after examinations.

Last assignment yoooooo

I submitted my last assignment in school yesterday!! Although I procrastinated a lot, I still spent a lot of time on it. I think it was because of my lack of concentration, that's why I spent a lot of time on it. Well, there are so much distractions such as the Olympics. I enjoyed watching it, especially the match between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei. It was soooo exciting. It was quite disappointing that Lee Chong Wei lose the game in the end, but still, you can really see the effort he put in.

Okay, back to topic. For the past 2 nights, I had been sleeping very late and waking up very early just to complete my assignment. I went to school to print my assignment at Ourspace, and the queue was freaking long. I spent almost half an hour there before getting my report printed and submitted.

I came home immediately after submission cos I had to go for tuition at 2pm. When I went to my student's place, his mum was talking on the phone with his science teacher. Her mum said that the teacher called her to tell her that her son hasn't been handing in his science activity book. He told the teacher that he lost it and he doesn't have money to get a new one. However, he didn't mention it to his mum until the teacher called.

In the end we didn't have tuition cos his mum intended to cancel, but forgot to tell me. Luckily I live opposite their house. I'd be fuming mad if my student in amk told me she couldn't have lesson after I reached their place.

I'm happy that tuition was cancelled though. I only have 4.5 hrs of sleep that night and I was happy that I got to sleep before meeting Elaine in the evening for dinner.

Elaine told me to meet at 6.30pm but I kept on thinking that I was meeting her at 6pm. So, in the end I was half an hour early. I went to shop around while waiting for her. When she told me that she had reached, I went to the MRT station to look for her. She's so idiotic. She told me that she was waiting for me at the Citibank area when she was actually standing at the MRT exit which is nearer to the Citibank, NOT AT THE CITIBANK AREA. She saw me walking towards Citibank and turning round and round to look for her but she REFUSED to signal to me until I called her. She said that it was funny to see me doing that. *Sigh* What a lousy friend I have.

We went to eat at Skinny Pizza @ Raffles City to eat. The pizza that we ordered has got quite a lot of veggie on it and the veggie tasted bitter. The types of pizza they sell are special, but I still like the traditional kind though. We also went B&J for dessert after that. It's always so enjoyable to go out with her.
